This research shows that graded written reflections in work-integrated learning lead students to censor their experiences, limiting learning. Interviews reveal that meaningful reflection occurs through informal conversations and relationships. Shifting from written assessments to dialogic reflection may improve learning by fostering honesty, deeper insight, and authentic engagement with workplace challenges.
