1. About Us and Relationship to Other Terms
My-Thesis.org (“our site”) is operated by Speakezee Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”), a company limited by shares registered in England and Wales under company number 09464069, with its registered office and main trading address at The Tythe Barn, Foxcote, Bath BA3 5YE, United Kingdom.
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) forms part of, and is incorporated into, the My-Thesis.org Terms of Use (“Terms of Use”). By accessing or using our site, you agree to comply with this AUP and the Terms of Use, which together form a legally binding agreement between you and us (“Agreement”).
If there is any conflict between this AUP and the Terms of Use, the Terms of Use shall prevail.
If you do not agree to this AUP or the Terms of Use, you must not use our site.
Where you use our site on behalf of a company, university, institution, or other organisation, you confirm that you have authority to bind that entity to this Agreement, and both you and that entity shall be parties to it.
2. Lawful Use Only
You may use our site only for lawful purposes. You must not use our site:
- In any way that breaches any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation;
- In any way that is unlawful, fraudulent, or misleading, or has any unlawful or fraudulent purpose or effect;
- To harm or attempt to harm any person, organisation, or property;
- To upload, transmit, or reuse material that does not comply with the Content Standards set out below;
- To send or facilitate spam or unsolicited or unauthorised promotional material;
- To knowingly transmit or upload any material containing viruses, malware, spyware, or other harmful code designed to adversely affect systems or data.
You also agree not to:
- Reproduce, duplicate, copy, or resell any part of our site in breach of the Terms of Use;
- Access without authority, interfere with, damage, or disrupt:
- our site or any part of it;
- any equipment or network on which our site is hosted;
- any software used to provide our site; or
- any equipment, network, or software owned or used by third parties.
3. Age Requirements
You must be at least 13 years old to use our site, or such higher minimum age as required by the laws of your jurisdiction.
Where content is uploaded by or on behalf of students under 18, you confirm that all required parental, guardian, or institutional consents have been obtained.
4. Interactive Services and Moderation
We may provide interactive services on our site, including (without limitation) comments, profiles, messaging, or submission tools (“Interactive Services”).
Where Interactive Services are provided, we will indicate:
- the nature of the service;
- whether it is moderated; and
- the form of moderation used (human, automated, or both), where applicable.
We take proportionate measures to reduce the risk of illegal or harmful content in accordance with our duties under the UK Online Safety Act 2023. However, we do not guarantee that all content will be monitored in real time.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for content posted by users. Where we become aware of content that breaches this AUP or applicable law, we will act reasonably and promptly.
Where moderation is provided, we will normally offer a means of contacting us to raise concerns.
5. Content Standards
These Content Standards apply to all content, information, and materials uploaded, posted, or otherwise contributed to our site by you (“Content”).
You must comply with both the letter and the spirit of these standards.
5.1 Content Must:
- Be accurate where it states facts;
- Be genuinely held where it states opinions;
- Comply with applicable laws of the United Kingdom and any country from which it is uploaded;
- Be submitted only where you have the necessary rights, permissions, and authority to do so.
5.2 Content Must Not:
- Be illegal or unlawful;
- Be defamatory, libellous, or slanderous;
- Be obscene, offensive, hateful, inflammatory, or sexually explicit;
- Promote violence or discrimination based on race, sex, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or age;
- Infringe any copyright, database right, trade mark, or other intellectual property right;
- Be deceptive, misleading, or fraudulent;
- Cause or be likely to cause harm, loss, or damage to any person or organisation;
- Breach any legal duty, including duties of confidence or contractual obligations;
- Promote or facilitate illegal activity;
- Harass, threaten, abuse, stalk, or invade the privacy of others;
- Impersonate any person or organisation or misrepresent identity or affiliation;
- Give the impression that it originates from us where this is not the case;
- Access or attempt to access systems or data without proper authority.
6. Intellectual Property and Licence to Us
You retain ownership of your Content.
By uploading or submitting Content to our site, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, and sublicensable licence to:
- host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, and make the Content available;
- transcribe, translate, summarise, index, tag, and adapt the Content;
- use the Content for the operation, promotion, and development of our site and related services.
You warrant that you have all necessary rights, permissions, and consents (including from speakers, institutions, and copyright holders) to grant this licence.
7. Suspension and Termination
We may, acting reasonably and proportionately, and with or without prior notice where appropriate:
- Remove or disable access to any Content;
- Suspend or terminate your access to all or part of our site;
- Suspend or terminate your registration as a user or speaker.
Such actions may be taken where we reasonably believe there has been a breach of this AUP, the Terms of Use, or applicable law.
To the extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any loss arising from such actions.
Termination does not affect any licences granted to us in respect of Content already made public, except where removal is required by law.
8. Reporting and Takedown
If you believe that any Content on our site breaches this AUP, infringes your rights, or is otherwise unlawful, please contact us at [admin@my-thesis.org] with sufficient details to enable us to review the matter.
We will assess reports and respond within a reasonable timeframe.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time by amending this page. You are expected to review it periodically. Continued use of our site constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
10. Governing Law
This Acceptable Use Policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
