This research examines why women remain underrepresented in engineering, focusing on confidence, self-selection, and sense of belonging. Despite strong academic performance, many women underestimate their abilities and feel they do not belong. Using an authenticity framework, the study explores how identity, environment, and social context influence participation and persistence in engineering.
