Biography

As a doctoral candidate in electrical engineering at the University of Notre Dame, I am committed to advancing the field of robotics through bio-inspired design, soft robotics, and learning-based control. My research focuses on developing robotic systems capable of navigating unpredictable and complex terrains, such as sand, mud, and water, by drawing inspiration from animal locomotion. This work reflects my passion for uncovering new methods to enhance robotic mobility and adaptability.

My academic journey includes a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (expected January 2024) and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Beyond research, I have contributed as a teaching assistant for courses in experimental robotics and autonomous mobile robots, where I developed educational resources and supported student learning. My recent professional experience includes serving as a Systems Analyst Intern at Intuitive, where I explored robotics and controls engineering.

Learning Adaptive Bio-Inspired Movements - Nnamdi Chikere

This research combines bio-inspired robotics and reinforcement learning to develop adaptable amphibious robots modeled after sea turtles. By learning through trial and error across diverse terrains, these robots can adjust their movement strategies in real time, improving performance in applications such as environmental monitoring, search and rescue, and agriculture.
