Modern technologies rely on minerals extracted through mining, which produces waste stored in tailings dams. These dams can fail due to liquefaction, where soil suddenly behaves like a liquid. Using cone penetration testing, this research identifies unstable soils in dams to prevent failures and protect communities near mining operations.
